Hello everyone!   Hard to believe that the summer is flying by so quickly.  The first weekend in July was the Poker Run, Steak and chicken roast, DJ dance, club meeting and breakfast.  Thanks to all who made this event such a huge success.  The winners in the Poker Run were Joe Keeling ($1,000), Jim Simo ($200) and Tony Zeh group ($100).  The 50/50 winner was Tammy Schrader.  Congratulations to all!  The weekend of July 16 and 17 was the Annual Venetian Regatta.  Thanks to Joanne Hancock for all of her hard work with the children’s games and all of the club members that assisted her with that event.  Also another thanks to Jay Onacila for filling in as DJ for the event at the last minute, and doing a spectacular job as always.

The final event for July was the ILYA Powerboat Regatta.  What a fabulous weekend!  Lots of fun, food, spirits, and contests for all.  All Ports, once again, has every reason to be proud.  We came in first place with a trophy in the Golf Cart Decorating contest.  The theme was a tropical tiki bar and all of the members who attended the event donated some of their own decorations to make the golf cart absolutely awesome.  Even the Put-in-Bay police liked the decorations when we were pulled over for obstruction of view over the windshield.  APYC was part of the winning softball team, and it couldn’t have happened without our own MVP, Steve Palmer.  Look out Steve, the scouts are after you!! APYC also came in third place overall for the most participation from volunteers.  Way to go!

Our next meeting is Saturday, August 6 at 6pm.  The main course will be party subs.  Please bring in a side dish or dessert to share with the club.  The Crew’s Nest trip is August 14-16.  Please make sure you are signed up if you are attending or see Mark Weller to sign up.

September 3 will be the Steak Roast and DJ dance.  Tickets will be $15 for a steak or fully marinated chicken breast with all of the fixins.  Please see me on C-5 for tickets.

And finally, the club would like to express our condolences to Mitch and Denise Volk and their family.  Mitch’s mother passed away on Saturday July 30.  Remember them in your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks

I would first like to thank all of you for a great year so far and to those who have purchased an article of All Ports Yacht Club clothing.  We have had good sales so far this year, but there is still plenty of time left to purchase clothing with our great All Ports Yacht Club logo. There are several new items in the cabinet, tank tops (colors: white, blue, and red) long sleeve T-shirt with APYC down both arms, with and without hood, short sleeve t-shirts, several different colors.

Linda and I will have the cabinet open before, during, and after the meeting on Saturday August 6th. Please take the time to stop and check out all the new items available.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the meeting on Saturday the 6th.

Vern

Secretary

Well July is officially over and it was an eventful month wasn’t it? We had a Poker Run a Regatta at Venetian and the I-LYA Powerboat Regatta at Put In Bay. The club sure was busy this month. I was fortunate enough to participate in all of the above events in some form or another. Deb and I passed out cards for the Poker Run and other than the sunstroke we had a good time. Reminder to self if we ever do that again take umbrella for shade. Congratulation to Joe Keeling for the winning hand. We had a productive meeting the day after Poker Run and it was an excellent breakfast that was served to the membership that attended, Thanks to George and all the ladies who worked hard to put that together. Our next meeting will be at 6pm August 6, 2005 at the Marina. Please attend as there are important things to discuss, Elections are coming in September, Nominations for the election, we have new members to bring into the Club, Roger and Carol Grashel at Venetian Dock C-6.

The I-LYA Powerboat Regatta was a hit for everyone I talked to that attended.  APYC brought home a trophy for the best decorated Golf Cart at the Regatta.  GCBA won the softball game vs. AYC for the first time in many years with some MVP help (a double, a home run, a triple and an intentional walk for approx 8 rbi’s) from APYC member Steve Palmer, way to go Steve. Everyone enjoyed some very good times and good food at the various events that occurred during the extended weekend. Deb and I had a great trip over and back and we couldn’t have asked for a better weekend.

See you all soon

Mark
